Sulle tracce di Arthur Machen

Tartarus Press ha pubblicato un interessante volume per tutti gli appassionati di Arthur Machen, Occult Territory, an Arthur Machen Gazetteer: il volume, di circa trecento pagine, contiene un elenco di luoghi nei quali Machen ha vissuto, mangiato, bevuto e che hanno influenzato il suo lavoro.

In edizione limitata di quattrocento copie, il volume è impreziosito da immagini e fotografie dell’epoca e citazione di Machen e di coloro che lo hanno conosciuto.

Tartarus Press published this May a special tome for Arthur Machen’ admirers, Occult Territory, an Arthur Machen Gazetteer, that lists those places in which Arthur Machen lived, worked, wrote, ate, drank and it is also a guide to sites that influenced his life and his work. The volume, in limited edition of 400 copies, is illustrated, often with contemporary photographs, and includes quotes from Machen, and thoswe that knew him.

Hypnos 9 in arrivo!

Disponibile già per il pre-order, è in uscita il 6 giugno il nuovo numero della rivista Hypnos, rivista di letteratura weird e fantastica.

Per la narrativa, restando in tema di classici, potrete trovare racconti di Aleister Crowley, Edward Lucas White e Francis Stevens, mentre tra gli autori contemporanei saranno protagonisti Kurt Fawver, con il racconto vincitore dello Shirley Jackson Award 2018, “La convessità dei nostri figli”, e Fabio Lastrucci con “I colori sbagliati”, racconto vincitore della sesta edizione del Premio Hypnos.

It is already available for preorder, and to be published on June 6th, Hypnos 9, the new issue of the magazine by Edizioni Hypnos focused on weird and fantastic literature. In this issue, some short stories by Aleister Crowley, Edward Lucas White and Francis Stevens, and also Kurt Fawver, with “The Convexity of Our Youth”, winner of the Shirley Jackson Award 2018, and Fabio Lastrucci with “I colori sbagliati”, winner of the sixth edition of the award Premio Hypnos for weird unpublished short stories in Italian. To complete the table of contents, some articles, reviews and the first part of the “Strange Story of Art” by Ivo Torello.

La “favola” di Victor LaValle

È in uscita in Italia il 6 giugno per Fazi Editore, traduzione di  Sabina Terziani, con il titolo Favola di New York, l’ultimo romanzo di Victor LaValle, The Changeling (2017), vincitore di diversi premi tra cui il World Fantasy award, finalista ai PEN America Literary Awards e apparso fra i migliori libri dell’anno per “The New York Times”, “Time” e “USA today”.  

Favola di New York narra le vicende di Apollo Kagwa, commerciante in libri usati, e della sua enigmatica moglie Emma, all’interno di una New York misteriosa e magica.

Autore pluripremiato (tra  gli ultimi riconoscimenti il Bram Stoker Award per la graphic novel Victor LaValle’s Destroyer) Victor LaValle è senza dubbio uno degli autori contemporanei più talentuosi. In Italia, oltre a  è apparso per Edizioni Hypnos il romanzo breve La ballata di Black Tom, originale rivisitazione del racconto di H.P. Lovecraft, “Orrore a Red Hook”. 

It will be soon published in Italian by Fazi Editore the last novel by Victor LaValle, The Changeling (2017), with the title Favola di New York, . The novel, translated by Sabina Terziani, follows the story of a bookseller, Apollo Kagwa, and his enigmatic wife Emma in a magical and mysterious New York City. Victor LaValle is beyond doubt one of the most talented contemporary writers and awards winner (just to name one, the Bram Stoker Award for the graphic novel Victor LaValle’s Destroyer). His novelette “The Ballad of Black Tom”, an original reinterpretation of H.P. Lovecraft short story “The Horror at Red Hook”, was published in Italian by Edizioni Hypnos with the title La ballata di Black Tom.
