Hypnos 9 in arrivo!

Disponibile già per il pre-order, è in uscita il 6 giugno il nuovo numero della rivista Hypnos, rivista di letteratura weird e fantastica.

Per la narrativa, restando in tema di classici, potrete trovare racconti di Aleister Crowley, Edward Lucas White e Francis Stevens, mentre tra gli autori contemporanei saranno protagonisti Kurt Fawver, con il racconto vincitore dello Shirley Jackson Award 2018, “La convessità dei nostri figli”, e Fabio Lastrucci con “I colori sbagliati”, racconto vincitore della sesta edizione del Premio Hypnos.

Completano il numero, articoli, recensioni e la prima parte della Strana Storia dell’Arte, a cura di di Ivo Torello.

It is already available for preorder, and to be published on June 6th, Hypnos 9, the new issue of the magazine by Edizioni Hypnos focused on weird and fantastic literature. In this issue, some short stories by Aleister Crowley, Edward Lucas White and Francis Stevens, and also Kurt Fawver, with “The Convexity of Our Youth”, winner of the Shirley Jackson Award 2018, and Fabio Lastrucci with “I colori sbagliati”, winner of the sixth edition of the award Premio Hypnos for weird unpublished short stories in Italian. To complete the table of contents, some articles, reviews and the first part of the “Strange Story of Art” by Ivo Torello.

Com’era weird la mia valle

Segnaliamo la prossima pubblicazione del volume di Milena Edizioni Com’era weird la mia valle, saggio di Fabio Lastrucci e Vincenzo Barone Lumaga dedicato al fantastico nelle sue declinazioni più dark e orrorifiche.

Il volume traccia dei possibili percorsi nei vari aspetti del genere, una lettura accessibile e documentata per avvicinare neofiti e appassionati all’argomento, esplorando i mondi degli investigatori dell’occulto, di creature fantastiche e degli orrori lovecraftiani, e dei grandi “villains” come Jack lo Squartatore, Fantômas e Oliver Haddo.

Grande spazio è dedicato alla scena italiana contemporanea, attraverso la produzione letteraria e con uno sguardo  alle case editrici e ai siti specializzati.

The Moons at your Door

David Tibet, leader e anima dei Current 93, ha più volte testimoniato il suo profondo legame con la letteratura weird e in particolare con due tra i suoi più importanti esponenti, Robert Aickman (è possibile leggere una sua introduzione al mondo di Aickman in italiano in Sentieri oscuri, Hypnos 2012; in inglese, in The Collected Strange Stories, Tartarus Press 2001 ) e soprattutto Thomas Ligotti, con cui ha collaborato negli anni a più riprese.

“The Moons At Your Door” è il titolo di un duplice progetto di David Tibet: The Moons At Your Door. An Anthology of Strange Tales (Strange Attractor Press, 2016), antologia con oltre trenta racconti scelti dallo stesso Tibet, con gli autori più rappresentativi del genere, tra cui Algernon Blackwood, Robert Aickman, Elizabeth Gaskell, Arthur Machen, Thomas Ligotti, M.R. James, Saki, W.W. Jacobs, Aleister Crowley, H.R. Wakefield e molti altri. La pubblicazione dell’antologia è stata preceduta dal progetto musicale omonimo, pubblicato sia in vinile che in cd, sempre dal titolo The Moons At Your Door, che contiene due lunghe tracce, “The Moons At Your Door” e “There Is A GraveYard That Dwells In Man”.

David Tibet, vocal leader of the band Current 93, is a true fan of weird literature and above all of Robert Aickman (he also wrote a paper about Aickman’s worlds that you can read in italian in the volume Sentieri Oscuri, Hypnos 2012, or in english in The Collected Strange Stories, Tartarus Press 2001) and Thomas Ligotti, with whom Tibet collaborated quite often.

“The Moons At Your Door” is the title of a double project by David Tibet: The Moons At Your Door. An Anthology of Strange Tales (Strange Attractor Press, 2016), anthology with more than thirty short stories, selected  by David Tibet himself, sith Authors like Algernon Blackwood, Robert Aickman, Elizabeth Gaskell, Arthur Machen, Thomas Ligotti, M.R. James, Saki, W.W. Jacobs, Aleister Crowley, H.R. Wakefield and many more. Before the anthology, he published also a musical project with the same name, with two long  songs, “The Moons At Your Door” and “There Is A GraveYard That Dwells In Man”.
