I Ragni Zingari di Nicola Lombardi per Tartarus Press

Segnaliamo il volume The Gypsy Spiders and Other Tales of Italian Horror (I ragni zingari) di Nicola Lombardi, per la casa editrice Tartarus Press, con la traduzione in inglese di J. Weintraub, che ha firmato anche l’introduzione del volume.

L’antologia contiene nove racconti horror, focalizzati sul concetto di alienazione, identità e trauma, ed è stata originariamente pubblicata nel 2010, vincendo il Premio Polidori nel 2013.

Tartarus Press has published The Gipsy Spiders and Other Tales of Italian Horror, a collection by the Italian writer Nicola Lombardi with the original title I Ragni Zingari. The collection was first published in 2010 and it won in 2013 the Premio Polidori. The volume was translated in English by J. Weintraub, who wrote also the introduction.

The third volume of the whole sea stories collection by William Hope Hodgson, I Demoni del Mare, is now available for preorder from Edizioni Hypnos. The riddle and other stories di Walter De La Mare

Siamo felici di annunciare che a partire dal 2022 uno dei maestri del fantastico sarà tra i protagonisti della nostra collana storica Biblioteca dell’Immaginario. Si tratta di WALTER DE LA MARE, di cui verrà presentata per la prima volta in Italia la sua prima antologia THE RIDDLE AND OTHER STORIES, pubblicata originariamente nel 1923 e che comprende capolavori come “Seaton’s Aunt”, “Out of the Deep” e “The Vats”.

Poeta, autore di storie per bambini, scrittore di strange stories, Walter de la Mare, inglese nato nella regione del Kent, è stato nella prima metà del secolo scorso il più importante esploratore del “fattore invisibile”, ovvero di quelle effrazioni che irrompono nel mondo come noi lo conosciamo, portandoci inevitabilmente a dubitare di esso, e inaugurando così una tradizione del fantastico britannico che troverà poi le sue vette più alte in Robert Aickman.
“The Riddle and Other Stories”, in uscita nel primo semestre del 2022, presenta quindici racconti, la maggior parte dei quali qui pubblicati per la prima volta in Italia.
La traduzione del volume è di Elena Furlan.

We are happy to announce that in 2022 we will publish a new volume for the Biblioteca dell’Immaginario series, The riddle and other stories, the very first anthology by Walter De La Mare, with some real masterpieces like “Seaton’s Aunt”, “Out of the Deep” and “The Vats”. The translation is by Elena Furlan. Poet, writer of children stories, and strange stories, Walter de la Mare, was the most important explorer of the “invisible factor”, that invades our reality and makes us doubt of it, and thus he started the tradition of british weird literature that will get at its peak with Robert Aickman.

Edizioni Hypnos announced a new collection by Robert Aickman, in the series Biblioteca dell’Immaginario: Brividi Crudeli, the fourth volume with Aickman’s works, will be available from May 31th and it includes some of the most famous short stories by the Author and a novella.

Torna Novecento Fantastico con Tom Reamy

Disponibile a partire da giovedì 13 maggio San Diego Lightfoot Sue, undici racconti fantastici dell’americano Tom Reamy, originariamente pubblicati tra il 1974 e il 1979.
I protagonisti di questi racconti sono spesso creature incontaminate, sia che si tratti di adolescenti, di freaks o di emarginati. Ai loro occhi si apre un realtà diversa, “magica”, un mondo ammantato da un senso di stupore e mistero, e che nasconde verità a volte spaventose, altre semplicemente “strane”.

Il vescovo dell’Inferno!

Segnaliamo un nuovo volume della fortunata serie Monster, She Wrote di Valancourt Books, dedicata al weird al femminile.

Si tratta di The Bishop of Hell and Other Stories, raccolta di racconti di Marjorie Bowen pubblicata originariamente nel 1949, che contiene dodici storie di fantasmi del periodo che va dal 1919 al 1933.

Il volume, uscito il 2 marzo in formato sia cartaceo che digitale, è arricchito da un’introduzione di Melanie R. Anderson, ed è disponibile anche in Italia a questo link.

Valancourt Books recently published, on March 2nd, a new volume for the series Monsters, She wrote, focused on weird literature by women writers. The Bishop of Hell and Other Stories, by Marjorie Bowen, is a collection of twelve ghost stories written between 1919 and 1930 and it is available, both in digital and paper edition, at this link.

Le Visioni di Harlan Ellison

Harlan Ellison, con le sue storie tra fantascienza, horror e weird, è stato uno dei più talentuosi e importanti autori del fantastico del secondo dopoguerra.
A partire dal 9 marzo i lettori italiani potranno riscoprire la sua opera grazie al mastodontico volume della collana Draghi Mondadori (816 pagine), Visioni. I racconti, che raccoglie la quasi totalità dei racconti di Ellison pubblicati in Italia.

Il volume, che sarà disponibile in versione sia cartacea che digitale, è arricchito da un saggio di Sandro Pergameno e da un’appendice bibliografica, a cura di Andrea Vaccaro.

Mondadori will publish on March 9th a new volume in the series Draghi, Visioni. I racconti, with all the short stories by Harlan Ellison published in Italy. The big volume, available in paper and digital edition, contains also an essay by Sandro Pergameno and a detailed bibliography by Andrea Vaccaro.

I finalisti dei Bram Stoker Award 2020

Sono stati annunciati i finalisti dei Bram Stoker Awards 2020. Ben due nomination per l’italiano Alessandro Manzetti, una in collaborazione con Stefano Cardoselli per la graphic novel Her Life Matters: (Or Brooklyn Frankenstein).
Tra le varie candidature segnaliamo la doppia nomination per Stephen Graham Jones (romanzo e racconto lungo), John Langan con la raccolta Children of the Fang and Other Genealogies, e Kurt Fawver con il racconto “Introduction to the Horror Story, Day 1”.I vincitori saranno proclamati durante al StokerCon che si svolgerà dal 20 al 23 maggio, in modalità virtuale.
