The winners of the 2017 Shirley Jackson Awards were announced at Readercon 29 on July 15.

The Shirley Jackson Awards are given for outstanding achievement in the literature of psychological suspense, horror, and the dark fantastic. They are voted upon by a jury of professional writers, editors, critics, and academics.

Com’era weird la mia valle

Il volume traccia dei possibili percorsi nei vari aspetti del genere, una lettura accessibile e documentata per avvicinare neofiti e appassionati all’argomento, esplorando i mondi degli investigatori dell’occulto, di creature fantastiche e degli orrori lovecraftiani, e dei grandi “villains” come Jack lo Squartatore, Fantômas e Oliver Haddo.

Grande spazio è dedicato alla scena italiana contemporanea, attraverso la produzione letteraria e con uno sguardo  alle case editrici e ai siti specializzati.

Il saggio sarà pubblicato a metà maggio ed è disponibile in preorder sui principali store online.

 

It Is available for preorder the new volume published by Milena Edizioni, Com’era weird la mia valle, an essay by Fabio Lastrucci and Vincenzo Barone Lumaga on weird literature, focusing of its dark and horror aspects: a journey that will lead the reader through the lovecraftian horror and the fantastic beasts, to the detectives of the occult and the great “villains” like Jack the Ripper, Fantômas and Oliver Haddo.

Il sorriso oscuro di Mervyn Wall

La Casa Editrice irlandese Swan River Press ha annunciato la prossima pubblicazione dell’antologia A flutter of wings di Mervyn Wall.

Il volume raccoglie alcuni esempi dell’opera dello scrittore irlandese, più noto per i suoi lavori satirici (The Unfortunate Fursey e The return of Fursey), con introduzione di Val Murkens e immagini di Clare Brennan.

Publisher Swann River Press announced a new volume dedicated to the Irish writer Mervyn Wall, A flutter of wings.

The anthology collects stories from Wall’s entire carreer, showing his satirical and grim side, with an introduction by Val Murkens and cover art by Clare Brennan

 

I mondi gotici di S.P.Miskowski

Nuovo romanzo e nuova antologia per la scrittrice americana S.P. Miskowski.

I wish I was like you è il titolo dell’ultimo romanzo pubblicato per JournalStone e disponibile dal 7 luglio: una storia di mistero, dark e horror, non scevra di sottile umorismo, ambientata a Seattle nel 1994.

Di prossima pubblicazione invece, prevista per Ottobre 2017, una nuova antologia di racconti, Strange is the Night, che raccoglie tredici storie di desiderio e autodistruzione.

Entrambi i volumi, acquistati su JournalStone, prevedono l’edizione cartacea associata a una copia gratuita dell’edizione elettronica.

 

 

New novel and new collection for the American writer S.P. Miskowski: I wish I was like you, published last week, is a mystery story, dark and horror and with Miskowski’s subtle humour; Strange is the night is the title of the new collection, now in preorder and to be published in October 2017.

Both volumes, published by JournalStone, will come in paper edition with a free digital copy.

La fiaba oscura di LaValle

Magia, orrore, mistero, perdita: questi sono solo alcuni degli ingredienti che Victor LaValle, moderno maestro dell’horror, ha sapientemente mescolato nel suo ultimo romanzo, The Changeling.

Il romanzo, il cui titolo è stato preso in prestito da un’opera di Kenzaburo Oe, scrittore giapponese molto amato da LaValle, racconta il viaggio terribile di un uomo alla ricerca della moglie scomparsa, una versione dark e spaventosa di una fiaba moderna.
