The HPLHS (H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society), a worldwide group of enthusiastic people about H.P. Lovecraft and his gothic world, launched a fundraiser to preserve a collection of original letters from Lovecraft to his friend Frank Belknap Long. The collection, 52 letters written between 1921 and 1930 and total 509 pages, of which many have never been published, is now being sold by a private collector. The HPLHS, together with the lovecraftian scholars S.T. Joshi & David E. Schultz, and Hippocampus Press publisher Derrick Hussey, plans to raise enough funds to enable the John Hay Library at Brown University in Providence to make the acquisition and to add the letters to their collection of Lovecraft materials.
