Soli Carbonizzati, the italian edition of Burnt Black Suns by Simon Strantzas, will be soon published at the end of June by Edizioni Hypnos. This is the third volume in the serie “Modern Weird”, dedicated to contemporary authors of weird literature. The protagonist this time is Simon Strantzas, successfull canadian Author, well known by the readers of Edizioni Hypnos for the stories published in the fourth volume of Hypnos Magazine and in Nuovi Incubi, the italian edition of  Year’s Best Weird Fiction 2014.

Soli carbonizzati (Burnt Black Suns, Hippocampus Press, 2014) is the fourth personal anthology by Strantzas with nine short stories, following the best  tradition of classic weird. We are pleased to the beautiful foreword by Laird Barron. The volume will be available both in paper and digital edition and it is actually available for preorder.

Here the table of contents:

Foreword “Dig My Grave” by Laird Barron

Stories: “On Ice”; “Dwelling on the Past”; “Strong as a Rock”; “By Invisible Hands”; “One Last Bloom”; “Thistle’s Find”; “Beyond the Banks of the River Seine”; “Emotional Dues”; “Burnt Black Suns”.

Author’s presentation, “Simon Strantzas” by Andrea Bonazzi

Some comments about the Author:

“The stories of Simon Strantzas exemply a style of horror that might be compared to the novellas of T.E.D. Klein” —Thomas Ligotti

“Simon Strantzas is perhaps the most extreme of the brilliant new Canadian writers of horror fiction who are enlivening and deepening our genre, and Burnt Black Suns demonstrates his remarkable narrative skills, his unerring, feverish sense of pace, and his absolute willingness to hurl himself into the darkest ranges of his excellent imagination. Here is a writer unafraid to evoke and make his own the achievements of Lovecraft, Machen, Blackwood, and Edward Lucas White, and to push at the boundaries that contained them.”— Peter Straub

Autumn Cthulhu

And in the autumn of the year, when the winds from the north curse and whine, and the red-leaved trees of the swamp mutter things to one another in the small hours of the morning under the horned waning moon, I sit by the casement and watch… — H.P. Lovecraft, “Polaris”

Remember the Kickstarter Project by Lovecraft ezine Press, back in 2015?

Well, here the result: the anthology Autumn Cthulhu is now available, in paper and digital version.

Nineteen stories, in the lovecraftian season that, for the Authors and the Editor, means death. And to quote the presentation of the anthology, “The true meaning of life is that there is no meaning”.
