It is now available in italian the latest novella by Victor LaValle , published by Edizioni Hypnos: La Ballata di Black Tom, the fifth volume in the Visioni series, in digital and paper edition. The Author proposes a reinvention of the lovecraftian “Horror at Red Hook” in the US’s Twenties.

The novella was nominated for Hugo, Nebula, Stoker and Shirley Jackson Awards.

Victor LaValle approda in Italia

The Ballad of Black Tom (Tor.com, 2016) by Victor LaValle, novella nominated for the Bram Stoker Award, will be soon published in italian, next April, by Edizioni Hypnos in the series Visioni.

Set in the Twenties, the story follows the life of Tommy Tester, young black man from Harlem, and a mysterious book that will mess up his life. The story is related to H.P.Lovecraft’s story “The Horror at Red Hook” and it deals with the topic of racism during those years in the U.S. , with a dedication to Lovecraft himself:  For H.P. Lovecraft, with all my conflicted feelings.

Victor LaValle wrote three novels: Big Machine won the Shirley Jackson Award in 2009 and the latest, The Devil in Silver, was listed by  the New York Times between the 50 best novels published  in 2012.
