Dim Shores annuncia la prossima pubblicazione, prevista per Agosto 2017, di una nuova e corposa antologia dedicata al weird, Looming Low, curata da Justin Steel e Sam Cowan: 26 racconti inediti dalle più prestigiose firme del weird.

Dim Shores announced a new huge anthology of short stories by the most famous Weird’s writer, Looming Low, edited by Justin Steel and Sam Cowan. The volume will be presented during the NecronomiCon 2017, to be held in Providence from 17 to 20 August.

This new collection will be published in August 2017 and will contain 26 unpublished stories: see above the full list.

2016 WEIRD!

imageIl 2016 è stato un anno ricco di novità e sorprese per gli amanti del weird e dell’horror, soprattutto in Italia, a cominciare dalla presenza a Milano a Stranimondi 2016 di Ramsey Campbell, che ha presentato il suo ultimo romanzo lovecraftiano L’ultima rivelazione di Gla’aki.

L’editoria specializzata si è dimostrata vitale quanto mai: Edizioni Hypnos ha presentato una nuova collana (Visioni) e otto nuovi volumi tra modern e classic weird, dalla riscoperta della rivista pioniere Der Orchideengarten, sino alle proposte più moderne di autori come Livia Llewellyn e Simon Strantzas; Indipendent Legions ha arricchito il suo già nutrito catalogo con pubblicazioni dei maggiori esponenti dell’horror contemporaneo, come Jack Ketchum, Richard Laymon e Robert McCammon, mentre Vincent Books ha dato il via a img_1378due nuove collane, New Breed e Miskatonic, dedicate al weird, all’horror e al fantastico italiano.

Infine il 2016 ha visto Alessandro Manzetti vincitore del prestigioso Bram Stoker Award per la miglior raccolta di poesie con Eden Underground.

The year 2016 was rich in new and interesting surprises for the lovers of weird and horror literature, especially in Italy: let’s start with the appearence of Ramsey Campbell during Stranimondi 2016, and the book launch of his last lovecraftian novel, L’ultima rivelazione di Gla’aki.

Der OrkiWeird specialized publishers were really dynamic: Edizioni Hypnos started a new series (Visioni)  and published eight new volumes of classic and modern weird, from the rediscovery of the innovative magazine Der Orchideengarten, to the modern weird writers like Livia Llewellyn and Simon Strantzas; Indipendent Legions added some very famous Authors of contemporary horror to their catalogue, like Jack Ketchum, Richard Laymon and Robert McCammon, and Vincent Books launched two new series, New Breed and Miskatonic, dedicated to weird, horror and fantastic literature.

Last but not least, Alessandro Manzetti won the prestigious Bram Stoker Award for the best poetry collection, with Eden Underground.

What a fantastic 2016, a perfect start for an even better 2017 for weird literature!

Simon Strantzas su Weird Magazine

imageWeird Magazine ha pubblicato un’intervista con Simon Strantzas, scrittore canadese di weird e horror, nonché celebre curatore e fondatore della rivista di critica letteraria “Thinking Horror”.

Strantzas, la cui ultima raccolta Soli Carbonizzati (Burnt Black Suns) è stata di recente pubblicata in Italia per Edizioni Hypnos, descrive le principali differenze tra le sue antologie di racconti, i suoi progetti futuri e parla della sua visione riguardante l’ispirazione letteraria e del concetto di “weird” e di “inconoscibile”.

 

Oltre all’antologia Soli Carbonizzati, Edizioni Hypnos ha pubblicato altri racconti di Strantzas: “Freddo al tatto” e “Luce morente”all’interno della rivista Hypnos 4, e “Il diciannovesimo gradino” in Nuovi Incubi.

Weird Magazine presents an interview with the canadian writer Simon Strantzas, author of weird and horror literature, well know editor, and founder of the literary magazine “Thinking Horror”.

Strantzas talks about Soli Carbonizzati (Black Burnt Suns), his last anthology published in Italy by Edizioni Hypnos, and also about his vision of weird and horror literature, his projects for the future and his inspirations.

The italian readers can find more stories by Simon Strantzas in Hypnos Magazine 4 (“Freddo al tatto” and “Luce morente”) and in the volume Nuovi Incubi (“Il diciannovesimo gradino”), both published by Edizioni Hypnos.
