I finalisti dei Bram Stoker Awards 2017
La Horror Writers Association ha annunciato i finalisti dell’edizione 2017 dei Bram Stoker Awards, per le migliori opere di letteratura horror e dark fantasy.
La premiazione avverrà il 3 marzo, durante l’annuale StokerCon che si terrà dall’ 1al 4 marzo allo storico Baltimore Hotel di Providence, Rhode Island.
Tra le opere finaliste segnaliamo i romanzi I Wish I Was Like You di S.P. Miskowski e Ubo di Steve Rasnic Tem, il romanzo breve Agents of Dreamland di Caitlín R. Kiernan e l’antologia The Beauty of Death Vol. 2: Death by Water, pubblicata dalla casa editrice italiana Independent Legions e curata da Jodi Renee Lester e Alessandro Manzetti, quest’ultimo finalista anche con la raccolta di poesie No Mercy.

The Horror Writers Association announced the 2017 Bram Stoker Awards Final Ballot. HWA is the premier organization for writers of horror and dark fantasy.
The presentation of the Bram Stoker Awards will occur during the annual StokerCon at the historical Baltimore Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island, during the gala dinner on March 3rd.
We would like to point out the novels I Wish I Was Like You by S.P. Miskowski and Ubo by Steve Rasnic Tem, the short novel Agents of Dreamland by Caitlín R. Kiernan and the anthology The Beauty of Death Vol. 2: Death by Water, published by Independent Legions and edited by Jodi Renee Lester and Alessandro Manzetti, who is also a finalist with the poetry collection No Mercy.

È morta Ursula Le Guin
Ursula Kroeber Le Guin, celebre autrice di letteratura fantasy e fantascientifica, è deceduta lo scorso lunedì 22 gennaio a Portland, Oregon, all’età di 88 anni.
Vincitrice di cinque premi Hugo e sei Nebula, nei suoi lavori ha toccato temi importanti relativi alla condizione umana, come femminismo e pacifismo, oltre a mostrare una notevole abilità nella creazione di mondi fantastici credibili e appassionanti.
Prolifica scrittrice, scrisse il suo primo racconto all’età di nove anni e il suo celebre “Ciclo di Earthsea” fu portato anche al cinema e alla televisione (I racconti di Terramare, 2006, e la miniserie TV Earthsea, 2004), benchè l’Autrice non abbia alla fine apprezzato nessuno dei due adattamenti.
La Biblioteca del Congresso l’ha dichiarata “leggenda vivente” nel 2000, per il suo importante contributo alla cultura americana.

Ursula Kroeber Le Guin, famous American author of fantasy and science fiction literature, died at 88 last Monday in Portland, Oregon.
She won five Hugo Awards and six Nebula Awards and was a prolific writer, starting her career with the first shirt story at the early age of nine.
In her works, describing fantastic yet realistic worlds, she deeply explored the human condition and her famous Earthsea series was adapted for film (Tales from Earthsea, 2006) and television (Legends of Earthsea, 2004), but Le Guin found the results disappointing.
The US Library of Congress designated Le Guin a Living Legend in 2000, for her significant contribution to America’s cultural heritage.
Many of her fellow writers and friends, as Stephen King, Neil Gaiman and more, shared online their affection in the last days.
Il libro degli orrori
Independent Legions ha annunciato l’uscita, per Settembre 2018, de Il Libro degli Orrori, traduzione italiana dell’antologia finalista ai World Fantasy Awards e ai British Fantasy Awards “A book of Horrors” (Jo Fletcher Books 2011).
Il volume, di cui è stata rivelata la cover art sul sito dell’Editore e che è già disponibile per il preorder, raccoglierà racconti di tantissimi importanti autori della letteratura horror come Stephen King, Ramsey Campbell, Caitlin Kiernan, Dennis Etchison, John A. Lindqvist, Richard Christian Matheson e molti altri.

Independent Legions announced the launch of Il Libro degli Orrori, due for September 2018, Italian translation of the horror anthology “A book of horrors” (Jo Fletcher Books, 2011), finalist of the World Fantasy Awards and the British Fantasy Award.
The volume, already available for preorder in the Publisher’s website, will include the stories of many great horror writers, as Stephen King, Ramsey Campbell, Caitlin Kiernan, Dennis Etchison, John A. Lindqvist, Richard Christian Matheson and much more.

The Ceremonies
La Casa Editrice inglese PS Publishing ha annunciato la ristampa di The Ceremonies di T.E.D. Klein, in edizione limitata a 200 copie e firmata dall’Autore, con box illustrato.
The Ceremonies, originariamente pubblicata nel 1984, è stata accolta da Stephen King come il “miglior romanzo horror dopo Ghost Story di Peter Straub”.
T.E.D. Klein ha pubblicato poche opere ma tutte hanno ricevuto un’ottima accoglienza per l’abilità con cui l’Autore sa insinuare l’orrore nei mondi che contribuisce a creare. Potete leggere un esempio della sua abilità narrativa con il racconto “I Fatti di Poroth Farm”, contenuto nel primo numero della rivista “Hypnos”.
PS Publishing announced the new edition of the novel by T.E.D. Klein, The Ceremonies, in limited edition of 200 copies, signed by the Author and with illustrated slipcase.
The Ceremonies was published in 1984 and Stephen King declared that it was the “best horror novel after Peter Straub’s Ghost Story”.
T.E.D. Klein published few works but they all have been appreciated for the inner ability of the writer to use the horror element. You can read an example of his writing skills with the story “I Fatti di Poroth Farm”, in the first number of “Hypnos Magazine”.
Le opere di Serra in Cell
I disegni dell’Artista italiano Daniele Serra sono stati selezionati per apparire nel film “Cell” (2016) di Tod Williams, tratto dall’omonimo romanzo di Stephen King e attualmente in programmazione negli USA.
Ben venti illustrazioni sono state inserite nella scenografia della stanza del protagonista, John Cusack.
Il film sarà in programmazione in Italia a partire da metà luglio.
Twenty illustrations by Daniele Serra, the well known italian Artist, will be present in the set dressing of the film adaptation of Stephen King ‘s “Cell” directed by Tod William and starring John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson.
The movie will be available in Italy in July: you will find Serra’s artwork all over the walls in John Cusack’s room.
Shirley Jackson Awards 2015
