È ora disponibile, per casa editrice inglese Tartarus Press, la raccolta di racconti Dream Fox and Other Strange Stories di Rosalie Parker, quinta antologia dell’autrice dedicata alle “strane storie”.
Il volume, disponibile sia in versione digitale che in versione cartacea, cartonato e autografato, contiene anche “un libro nel libro”, Mary Belgrove’s Book of Unusual Experiences, nove differenti resoconti di avvenimenti strani e paranormali.

The Ferry of Souls, di A.L. Salmon
Tartarus Press, casa editrice indipendente britannica, ormai ben nota ai nostri lettori per il suo catalogo di estrema qualità, ha annunciato di recente la pubblicazione del volume The Ferry of Souls (1927) dello scrittore Arthur Leslie Salmon.
Questo autore, ben poco conosciuto e originario della Cornovaglia, ha scritto alcune raccolte di racconti e poesie dove il mondo della realtà si fonde con il soprannaturale e il weird, tra presenze spettrali, creature dell’orrore, e descrizioni poetiche e a tratti spirituali.
Il volume, che presenta in copertina un’opera di Adolf Hiremy-Hirschl, contiene i racconti e le poesie di Salmon, inizialmente raccolti nell’antologia con lo stesso titolo e nel suo seguito (Waysides and Byways, 1928), ed è disponibile per l’acquisto a questo link.

I Ragni Zingari di Nicola Lombardi per Tartarus Press
Segnaliamo il volume The Gypsy Spiders and Other Tales of Italian Horror (I ragni zingari) di Nicola Lombardi, per la casa editrice Tartarus Press, con la traduzione in inglese di J. Weintraub, che ha firmato anche l’introduzione del volume.
L’antologia contiene nove racconti horror, focalizzati sul concetto di alienazione, identità e trauma, ed è stata originariamente pubblicata nel 2010, vincendo il Premio Polidori nel 2013.

Tartarus Press has published The Gipsy Spiders and Other Tales of Italian Horror, a collection by the Italian writer Nicola Lombardi with the original title I Ragni Zingari. The collection was first published in 2010 and it won in 2013 the Premio Polidori. The volume was translated in English by J. Weintraub, who wrote also the introduction.
Aickman inedito da Tartarus Press
È in uscita il 5 novembre per Tartarus Press Go Back At Once, romanzo inedito di Robert Aickman. Il romanzo, datato 1975, ambientato nel primo dopoguerra, narra la vicenda di due giovani donne inglesi, Cressida Hazeborough e la sua amica Vivien Poins che, terminati gli studio, si trasferiscono a Londra, dove vengono a conoscenza di un misterioso personaggio, Virgilio Vittore, poeta, autore teatrale e soldato.

Tartarus Press announced a new volume by Robert Aickman, Go back at once, to be published on November 5th. The book was completed by Robert Aickman in August 1975 and is a previously unpublished novel set in the 1920s telling the story of two young English women, Cressida Hazeborough and her friend Vivien, getting to know a mysterious character, Virgilio Vittore, clearly based on the Italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio.
The Child Cephalina, il nuovo romanzo di Rebecca Lloyd
In una Londra vittoriana si svolge The Child Cephalina, l’ultimo romanzo dai toni fortemente gotici di Rebecca Lloyd, autrice inglese già nota al pubblico anche per la sua narrativa breve, raccolta in diverse antologie tra le quali Ragman & Other Family Curses (Aegeus Press 2016) e Seven Strange Stories (Tartarus Press, 2017). Sulle tracce di Arthur Machen
Tartarus Press ha pubblicato un interessante volume per tutti gli appassionati di Arthur Machen, Occult Territory, an Arthur Machen Gazetteer: il volume, di circa trecento pagine, contiene un elenco di luoghi nei quali Machen ha vissuto, mangiato, bevuto e che hanno influenzato il suo lavoro.
In edizione limitata di quattrocento copie, il volume è impreziosito da immagini e fotografie dell’epoca e citazione di Machen e di coloro che lo hanno conosciuto.
Tartarus Press published this May a special tome for Arthur Machen’ admirers, Occult Territory, an Arthur Machen Gazetteer, that lists those places in which Arthur Machen lived, worked, wrote, ate, drank and it is also a guide to sites that influenced his life and his work. The volume, in limited edition of 400 copies, is illustrated, often with contemporary photographs, and includes quotes from Machen, and thoswe that knew him.

Arthur Machen e i libri dell’occulto
Interessante nuovo progetto dalla Tartarus Press, si tratta di Arthur Machen’s Occult Catalogues, curato da R.A. Gilbert.
Il volume riprende The Literature of Occultism and Archaeology, pubblicazione che Machen diede alle stampe nel 1885, una sorta di catalogo relativa a libri in vendita di alchimia, astrologia e scienze esoteriche, compilato sotto l’egida dell’editore George Redway.
Il libro sarà disponibile gratuitamente in esclusiva per gli appartenenti all’associazione The Friends of Arthur Machen, e non sarà acquistabile altrimenti.

An interesting initiative by Tartarus Press: Arthur Machen’s Occult Catalogues, edited by R.A. Gilbert, based on The Literature of Occultism and Archaeology, by Machen himself (1885), a sort of catalogue of alchemy, esoterism and astrology books available at the time.
The volume will be free but only for the members of The Friends of Arthur Machen, and not available otherwise.

Pauliska, or Modern Perversity
Interessante proposta di Tartarus Press, con il romanzo di fine Settecento, Pauliska, del barone Jacques-Antoine de Révérony Saint-Cyr.
Pubblicato nel 1798, il romanzo presenta diversi tratti decisamente “neri”, tanto da essere annoverato tra i romanzi gotici francesi.
In Italia il romanzo è stato pubblicato nel 1991 per la casa editrice le Lettere, con il titolo Pauliska o la perversità moderna.
